Villa Boende is another house I've wrapped around a courtyard.  But instead of a central garden, I've created a private pool and entertainment area.  Start with a big great room up front, with a cuppolo in the center, allowing daylight to shine down on the fountain below.  Three large glass doors provide immediate views of the courtyard.  The back of the house is actually a covered screen porch for enjoying the pool activities.  And note the grilling kitchen for supporting the outdoor activities without having to track through the house.
