CASA LOMA
Casa Loma, in Canada, was the second largest private residence in North America when it was built
1911-1913. At 156,000 sq ft, it has 88 rooms and 22 fireplaces. However, in spite
of Sir Henry and his wife living there about
10 years, only the first and second floors were completed - leaving most of the basement
and third floor unfinished. The Kiwanis Club of Toronto is restoring the
castle. The wall between the library and dining room has been replaced with large
posts to open the space - as has the wall between Lady Pellatt's room and
the tower sitting room.
