HARLECH CASTLE - Gwynedd, West Wales
I didn't draw this one. Nice work Shawn Brown! Visit the site http://www.ShawnBrown.com
(c)2003. "Harlech Castle" in Gwynedd West Wales was built from 1283-1289 by the English monarch Edward I. It was one of the most formidable of his "iron ring" of fortresses designed to contain the Welsh. Ironically,
in 1404 it was taken by Welsh leader Owain Glyn Dwr. Harlech
was eventually reclaimed by the English under the future Henry V, and it
again saw service in the Wars of the Roses. It is very rare these days, to
see a Medieval castle this intact! |
